The nominations were:

Shrewsbury Town 1-2 Walsall (1961) - A record crowd at Gay Meadow saw Walsall clinch a second successive promotion with a 2-1 win.

Sheffield United 0-1 Walsall (1981) - The Saddlers won this final day of the season clash to avoid relegation and send their hosts down. Walsall scored a penalty and United missed a penalty on a dramatic day at Bramall Lane.

Walsall 3-1 Oldham Athletic (1999) - Walsall's against-the-odds promotion was sealed with a 3-1 victory over Oldham on one of the most joyous Bescot Stadium occasions.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-2 Walsall (1999) - After securing their place in the second tier of English football, Walsall went to Wolves during the first month and deservedly won 2-1.

Albert McPherson - Skipper of the Walsall side that won the Division Four Championship in 1959/60 and then achieved a second successive promotion at the end of the following campaign.

Peter Hart - A reliable and committed central defender who was a positive role model during the 1980s and led the saddlers to the semi-final of the League Cup in 1983/84.

Martin O'Connor - The local lad was a key figure in the heart of the Walsall team and gave his all to the cause every time that he led the team onto the pitch.

Andy Butler - The current skipper is an inspirational and well-respected figure throughout the club. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, he has been Player of the Season twice in the past three years.

2000/01 - The season ended with an appearance at the Millennium Stadium as the Saddlers beat Reading in the Play-Off Final in dramatic fashion.
