The nominees were:

Robert Page - Led the Hornets to a Play-Off Final victory over Bolton in 1999 as captain of the Watford side which achieved promotion to the Premier League under Graham Taylor

Gavin Mahon - Skippered Watford under Aidy Boothroyd in the 2005/06 promotion season, which saw the Hornets beat Leeds in the Play-Off Final

Neil Cox - Held the armband through one of the club's most difficult periods, helping broker a wage deferral deal with players to save the club from administration in 2002/03

John McClelland - Signed for Watford in 1984 and was appointed captain by Graham Taylor during some of the club's most successful years

Keith Eddy - Influential captain under Ken Furphy during the 1960s and early 1970s, helping lead the club into the Second Division and to an FA Cup semi-final.

1982/83 – Finished as runners-up to Liverpool in old Division One.

1983/84 - 11th place finish in Division One, FA Cup finalists and first season in Europe (UEFA Cup).

1998/99 - Promotion to the Premier League under Graham Taylor, via dramatic Play-Off Final win at Wembley against Bolton.

1959/60 - Promoted to Division Three.

1968/69 - Division Three champions under Ken Furphy.

The nominees were:

Ron Burgess - Presided over Watford's first Football League promotion in 1959/60.

Ken Furphy - Guided the Hornets to the second tier for the first time in their history, picking up the Divison Three title in 1968/69.

Graham Taylor - Masterminded Watford's rise from Division Four to Division One between 1977 and 1982, finishing runners-up in their first top flight season (1982/83). Returned in 1997 to achieve back-to-back promotions as the Hornets rose again from the third tier to the Premier League.

Ray Lewington - Severely tested by limited financial resources, Lewington safeguarded Watford's place in the second tier between 2002 and 2005 and led the club to League Cup and FA Cup Semi-Finals.

Aidy Boothroyd - Kept Watford in the Championship when tasked with seven games to achieve survival in 2004/05, then completed a return to the Premier League after victory in the Play-Offs during his first full season.
